Bartlit Beck Earns Supreme Court Victory
Bartlit Beck earned an important victory in the Supreme Court, convincing the Justices to vacate a stay imposed by a federal appeals court following Bartlit Beck’s historic voting rights trial win against the Georgia Secretary of State. The stay would have allowed this November's elections for Public Service Commission—the five-member body that regulates how much Georgia consumers must pay for utilities—to proceed using the at-large method that the trial court found unlawfully dilutes the votes of millions of Black citizens in the state. The Supreme Court’s unanimous decision means that those elections will remain on hold until the courts have ruled on the merits of the Secretary’s appeal. The team was led by Bartlit Beck partners, Nico Martinez and Wesley Morrissette, along with co-counsel Bryan Sells. See CNN coverage here.
